Prompts

Prompts I actually use

These are the exact words I type into Claude Code. Copy any of them. The ones at the top are the ones I use most.

  1. Design and build a website

When: starting any new site or landing page, in plan mode, with the browser tools turned on

Design and build a modern, award-worthy (landing page / website / etc). I want you to be my brainstorming partner. Be infinitely curious and resourceful, lead the charge, and balance between being a creative designer and a thoughtful entrepreneur. Don't be afraid to push back and ask questions. It should be utterly perfect, visually beautiful, with every single thing done at AAA quality, from design to physics to anything you could think of.

Use Chrome dev tools to ensure your work is good, responsive, and mobile friendly.

(Explain the website and what you want to do)
  2. Explain it like I've never coded

When: anything confuses you, an error, a word, a command Claude wants to run

Explain that like I've never coded. What does it do and why do we need it?
  3. Make a plan first

When: anything bigger than a small tweak

Make a plan first and show it to me before you write code.
  4. Check my setup

When: right after you install everything

Check that git, node, gh, and firebase are installed and that I'm logged in to GitHub and Firebase. Tell me if anything is missing.
  5. Ship it

When: you've clicked around and it works

Commit this and open a PR.
  6. Merge it

When: the preview link works on your phone

    Merge it.
  7. Your first real project

When: you've picked one thing you track on paper or in a spreadsheet

I run [your business] and I'm new to coding, so explain what you're doing and walk me through anything I have to do myself. Make a plan first.

I want a private app in this repo using Next.js, Firebase (Google sign-in and Firestore), and Vercel. Only emails on an approved list can sign in. Version 1: [the one thing you track today, in a sentence or two]. It has to work well on a phone. Here are screenshots of how we track it now: [drag them in].

Write Firestore security rules so only signed-in, approved users can read or write anything, and show me how you tested them. Then set up CLAUDE.md with the house rules for this project.
