Four cabins, one app for turnovers and guest messages

I own four cabins in the Hocking Hills of Ohio. When I bought the business, two problems stood out right away: our turnovers weren't consistent, and our guest communication was slow and scattered. So I built an iOS app for our team that handles both.

The two biggest problems

1

Turnovers

Every cabin has to be guest-ready between a checkout and the next check-in. How a clean turned out depended on who did it, and there was no easy way to check without driving out.

2

Guest messages

Guests write in before and during every stay. The answer depended on who saw the message first, and getting a good reply out fast, every time, was hard.

What I built

The whole loop, from a finished clean to a guest reply

Our cleaners and I all work from the same app. Here's how it goes, start to finish, in under a minute.

  1. 1A cleaner finishes a cabin and I get a notification.
  2. 2I open the turnover: checklist, times, notes, and photos of every room.
  3. 3It looks right, so I approve it. No drive out to check.
  4. 4A guest writes in, and AI has already drafted a reply.
  5. 5I read it, approve it, and it's sent.

Why I built it

We were running four cabins on paper checklists, group texts, and a shared inbox. I wanted one app on everyone's phone, so every turnover gets checked the same way and every guest gets a good answer fast.

  • React Native
  • Firebase
  • Hostfully
  • AI drafts
  • App Store
Recorded on a test copy of the app. The guest is made up.

Run rentals too?

I'm not a developer. I built this with Claude Code, one problem at a time. If turnovers or guest messages are eating your week, email me. I'm happy to show you how it works.
